Family Support Team

When a family member or close friend is dying it can feel devastating. Our Family Support Team Leader and specially trained volunteers are available to help people through this difficult time and when a death has taken place.

The Nurses from each part of Isabel Hospice inform the Family Support Team when a patient in their care has died. A month after the death, family and friends may have begun to withdraw while the bereaved person is still struggling to cope with a new situation. At this time a card will be sent offering support and encouragement.

All bereaved clients are telephoned and further support offered may include a visit or a weekly coffee morning. Evening social events are available for the younger bereaved people who are not free in the daytime.
